2020 UCR Registration Will Open Feb. 13

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has announced that fees for the 2020 UCR registration year will be published in the Federal Register on Thursday, February 13. Upon publication, the fees will become effective and the 2020 registration period will officially open. FMCSA previously announced on its website the specific fee levels for 2020.

Businesses subject to the UCR Act may register at  www.ucr.gov

Since the opening of the 2020 registration period was delayed several months, UCR is requesting that states delay enforcement until June 1, 2020.

The UCR National Registration System (www.ucr.gov) will be ready to handle registrations when the final rulemaking is published.  For support or questions, call 1-833-UCR-PLAN or send an email to helpdesk@ucr.gov.

Recommended Enforcement Timing

State enforcement of the UCR registration requirements commonly begins January 1.  But since the opening of the 2020 registration period was delayed several months, UCR is requesting states delay enforcement until May 1, 2020.

Start of 2020 UCR Registration Period is Delayed

The start of the 2020 UCR registration period is delayed until further notice while the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) completes its rulemaking process on fee levels for next year. A notice of proposed rulemaking was published in the Federal Register on August 27.

Once the final rulemaking is published later this year, thereby officially establishing UCR fees for 2020, the UCR Board of Directors will recommend that states delay enforcement for three (3) months from the start of the registration period.

2018 Registration Year Closing September 30

UCR will officially close the 2018 registration year on September 30, 2019. If you have not already done so, be sure to pay your 2018 registration fee and resolve any outstanding issues before then.
